Spambots!

I get a fair bit of spam, as I'm sure most of my blogging brethren and sisteren do.  For reasons that are unknown to me, the majority of spam comments are on my Lady Gaga post.  It's a good post, there's no denying that, but I have no idea why it's become so popular among spambots and spammers.  The best I can come up with is there's some kind of herd mentality at work--everyone else is spamming it, and so should I!

Of course there are a few free thinkers, AIs and spammers who like to roll the dice and seemingly spam at random.  These comments tend to be more formulaic.  Like there's an actual form into which names and titles are inserted.

I read all the spam comments I get, and they're all pretty much the same: praise for the film.  Only sometimes it's clear the bot or person doesn't know they're spamming an article or post that isn't a movie review.  And that's when it starts getting funny (read: more sad).  On other occasions, they demonstrate a profound unfamiliarity with the subject.  Every once in a while, however, the spammer spams with such clarity of vision that I have to wonder why they can't get a better job writing as an article farmer:

The song and the video work together to create a beautiful world that is rotten at its core, full of treachery and deceit.

Other spammers are less well-informed and articulate than Mobile Apps for Business up there.  For example, Anoymous left this comment on my review of MBV 3D

Harry Warden is so cool I just love his miner gasmask pickaxe and outfit. Harry`s so cute and I love as my favourite character from my bloody valentine, Harry`s the lead character of My Bloodier Valentine, Harry is the best of all, he is better than Tom Hanniger. Harry Warden is very cute and amazing. He is 1st in the cast of my bloody valentine 3d. Harry was incredible in that film I give credit as I am his horror fan.

Of all the comments I've recieved on Lady Gaga, this one is among the best: British rock band Muse are reportedly planning a live duet with Lady Gaga at the Grammy Awards.  Okay, so the content isn't that interesting (Blind Brokers Network told me the same thing) but it was posted by...wait for it...Dallas County Jail.  Other spammers include Carpet Cleaning Milwakee, Best Kettlebell Workout, and because I run a classy blog, Lexington Law Review.

Lowering the tone a bit are the comments that lack any sense of grammar, syntax, or proper spacing.

Great info. I like all your post. I will keep visiting this blog very often. It is good to see you website.

Great review ! I enjoyed reading of it else I have been a turned off by vampire fiction. It is really very nice written article :)

This is the movie which prove Old is Gold. You really can see the reason of it if you watched this movie.Good direction and scripting of the movie. Each character done their role to best.

I never got any chance of watching this film. I heard that this is very short thriller movie. The movie is directed and written by Carl Wagoner.

Really, I would expect Free Movies to know that Creep was written and directd by Christopher Smith.

And then there's this, courtesy of Remove Late Payments:

oh yeah thats right good catch, I didn't really think of Moby Dick as Homo-erotic filler until just now. but, with Heath Ledger dead who would play Captain Ahab

Finally, proof that it is impossible to programme a robot to understand the difference between right and wrong:

Glad to be one of several visitors on this awful internet site.

I liked the way you put together everything, there is certainly no need to go any further to look for any more details. You described each and everything that too with much of convenience.
