I hate Christmas music. With the exception of Fairy Tale of New York by The Pogues, Xmas songs are irritating, overplayed, and badly produced. Worse still are the more traditional songs and carols that have been covered and "updated" by contemporary artists. And don't even get me started on Band Aid, with their message of oppressive cultural and religious homogeneity.
This year, because my workplace demands I play some seasonal tunes, I've added two songs to my playlist. They're Chistmassy. Sort of. They mention Christmas. And one of them even features Santa Clause.
Jonathan Coulton - Chiron Beta Prime
Jon Lajoie - Cold Blooded Christmas

DM, try A Jolly Christmas with Frank Sinatra. All I'm saying. Beautifully produced, beautifully sung. Just my two cents. But I'm just an unapologetic Sinatraphile :-)
I trust you, Brian. I will give it a listen.
Yay! :-)
Oh my god! Thank you for this. I'm working retail on Christmas eve and I just needed a break from "Santa baby." I might be able to go 4 more hours now.
I feel you pain. I'm working 9-5 on Christmas Day. Hope you survived, and happy Xmas :)
